È una macchina a vapore con uno sviluppo verticale che, rispetto alla Regina presenta differenze dal punto di vista della forma e dello stile. L'Ottagonale rispecchia l'Art Decò dell'epoca, grazie alla sua eleganza ma allo stesso tempo alla sua semplicità; tipica l'assenza di decorazioni che sono ridotte alla cima e all'etichetta.
La carrozzeria della macchina è composta da ottone, rame, acciaio, smalto e bachelite combinati insieme per riportare ad una forma estetica che ricorda i grattacieli americani.
La posizione del marchio "doppia R", è uguale sia per l'Ottagonale sia per la Regina ovvero, sul La posizione del marchio .. doppia R .. è uguale sia per l'Ottagonale sia per la Regina, ovvero, sul ripiano che regge la tazzina durante la preparazione del caffè. La scelta della posizione non serve solo per attirare l'attenzione di colui che prepara la bevanda ma anche per non infastidire i visitatori e i clienti di quel luogo mostrando un marchio che potrebbe essere contrario ai loro gusti. Inoltre sulla carrozzeria della macchina possiamo trovare un'etichetta ottagonale cromata su cui spicca la scritta Rancilio" in rosso e nero. Sul fondo del corpo cilindrico si può notare un'altra piccola targa che presenta la scritta "R.Rancilio".
lt is a stream machines with a vertical development that, compared to the Regina, presents differentces in terms of shape and style. The Ottagonale reflects the Art Deco of the time, thanks to its elegance but at the same time its simplicity; typical is the absence of decorations that are reduced to the top and the label.
The body of the machine is composed of brass, copper, steel, enamel and Bakelite combined together to brig back an aesthetic shape that recalls the American sky-building.
The position of the "double R" brand is the same for both the Ottagonale and Regina, that is, on the shelf that holds the cup during the preparation of the coffee. The choice of position is not only to attract the attention of the person preparing the drink but also to not annoy visitors and consumers of that place by showing a brand that could be contrary to their tastes. Also on the body of machine we can find an octagonal chrome label on which the writing "Rancilio" stands out in the red and black. On the bottom of the cylindrical body we can see another small plate that has the writing "R.Rancilio"
